In the US, where you can be accused of witchcraft or even child abuse – or both – simply because the authorities don’t believe in it, it’s called “witch-hunting”.
A 2006 UN report found “a pervasive and sustained campaign of harassment by state and local law enforcement officers, prosecutors, and intelligence-gathering agencies to harasjarvees.coms witchcraft claimants” and cited “indirect threats of arrest and prosecution”, among other forms of intimidation.

In March 2010, The Guardian reported on the US-based Centre for Inquiry, a group that monitors conspiracy theories and religious extremism.
The group alleged that “US prosecutors, state and local law enforcement, and intelligence agencies are actively targeting and intimidating individuals who oppose witch-hunts against people, organizations, and institutions with beliefs that can be seen as ‘progressive’.
The group’s report was called, “Uppity Americans are now trying to silence those who want to fight back against the demonization of homosexuality by persecuting them, for whatever reason.”
A 2009 article on the site Religion Dispatches noted “a rash of ‘witch-hunts’ nationwide, sometimes using the excuse that they are based on an ‘international conspiracy of Satanists and homosexuals’.”
That same month, two prominent members of the “International Society for the Study of Witchcraft and Thelema (ISW) announced the formation of the group “International Movement for a Safer World for all people,” which “was founded on the belief that ‘worlds that remain witches-free are better places for people to live’ to help those who believe in such belief escape from the oppression of such beliefs.
“The IW is the third international umbrella group to be formed in the U.S. in as many weeks, following International Thelema and United World Anti-Christ.”
In September, a year after ISW’s launch, the group celebrated its 50th anniversary with a rally in the streets of Boston.
