After the first wave of activists made their way onto the ground, about a dozen inmates, including some from Bail Bondi’s home community of Narre Warren, were arrested for breaching bail conditions of the prison.
The group was then driven around the prison by officers, with one demonstrator throwing a beer bottle at a police vehicle to block police from approaching.
The group, which claimed to be a mix of anarchists and radical rightwingers, was removed after gospelhitzthe police were forced to open fire on the crowd, according to Fairfax Media.
An earlier demonstration at the Cauvery water treatment plant was also shut down. Protesters on Saturday were called violent for gathering outside the site.
The Melbourne-based director of the Prison Justice Institute, which is opposing the removal of G4S, Paul Daley, said he had hoped to attend the protest but would not be attending this week due to the “very significant” number of bail conditions being breached.
He said the police and other author더킹카지노ities had been instructed to carry out searches in and around the site to see if people were “under a 우리카지노bail condition that could be breached”.
He said the “furious protesters” had “no respect for the courts, no respect for the Constitution or for any other part of our democratic system”.
“The police were out on bail when they were being targeted by protesters,” he said. “If we’re going to be attacked and detained over and over again, the police have no interest in dealing with that any more than the local council, which is in the process of tearing down one of its towers.”
Earlier, the federal government issued a warning about the possibility of violence during the events. The prime minister, Tony Abbott, said he was confident no harm would come to any of those involved.
Labor leader Bill Shorten said the government’s move to remove G4S from the G20 was “just the latest in a string of government missteps that have left millions unemployed”.
“As we are all aware, the latest of those missteps is the removal of an uncooperative international company in Australia. And this should have been done by the people of this country, not government bureaucrats,” he said.
